  • UFC 4 Trailer reveals Backyard Fighting and more

EA Sports returns to the spotlight after the trailer for UFC 4 reveals backyard fighting and a bit more info on the latest released, just two years after the previous installment.

Sporting News reports that a few media outlets were selected to be a part of the virtual presentation. They had scoops on the newest gameplay. UFC 4 has new venues, a dark mode, and players can pre-order DLC fighters. The list includes heavyweight titlist Tyson fury and unified boxing heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

Fans thought that UFC 4 would be released this holiday season and be available for the next generation of consoles; PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. This rumor proves to be false. EA Sports UFC 4 will premiere on August 14 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The release for next-gen consoles is still unknown.

The cover athletes for UFC 4 are middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and “BMF” champion Jorge Masvidal.

    Game Modes are:

    • Fight Now (Knockout Mode, Stand and Bang, and Custom)
    • Career Mode
    • Tournaments
    • Custom Events
    • Online World Championships (online only)
    • Blitz Battles (online only)
    • Quick Fight (online only)
    • Invite (online only)

For career mode, players will have the opportunity to connect with other players through social media. There is also a “Fight Now” mode to customize the game to suit your preference.

Players can compete on the World Championship Mode where they climb the leader-boards and become champion. Lastly, the Blitz Mode presents a rapid-fire tournament to up the stakes.

There are four newly added environments for UFC 4:

    • The Backyard
    • The Kumite
    • UFC Apex
    • Action Avenue

UFC 4 also offers more customizable options compared to UFC 3. The article reported, “There are twelve fighter archetypes that will define the foundation of your chosen fighting style. Everyone will be able to put their personalized stamp on their fighter with over 1,600 new pieces of gear (including masks) and over 120 emotes.”

EA Sports included non-MMA players such as Bruce Lee, Tyson Fury, and Anthony Joshua.

If you pre-order EA Sports UFC 4, you’ll be given two customization packs. The Backyard Customization Pack includes jean print shorts, backyard camo shirt, backyard MMA gloves, skull cap, and a gold chain. The Kumite Customization Pack comes with Kumite gladiator shorts, Kumite cobra shirt, rope gloves, cobra mask, and a Kumite necklace.

  • Microsoft might acquire Batman and Mortal Kombat Developers

It’s being speculated that Microsoft is interested in acquiring Warner Bros. Interactive. This news follows the recent article that AT&T is possibly deciding to sell the video game development arm of Warner Bros.

IGN reports that the sale is not currently imminent. The Information reported that with Activision, EA and Take-Two, Microsoft is also interested in acquiring WB Interactive and several game development studios under it. If ever Microsoft, or any other company, buys WB Interactive, then they’d likely purchase studios such as Avalanche Software, Monolith Productions, NetherRealm Studios, Rocksteady Studios, TT Games. They would also be able to buy other WB Games studios that are situated across the globe.

Do note that by acquiring WB Interactive, the company will not own Batman or Harry Potter and other notable characters. It only means that in the future, potential buyers must negotiate licensing deals. Doing this allows studios to create new games based on Warner Bros. characters and DC Comics.

However, in the sale of NetherRealm Studios, Microsoft or Activision will be able to own Mortal Kombat.

By acquiring WB interactive, Microsoft will be able to increase the number of Xbox Studios developers. By adding studios like NetherRealm, they would be able to develop DC and HP games similar to how Insomniac has the license to develop Spider-man games for PlayStation. Microsoft already has high-profile developers under its wings, notably; Ninja Theory, Obsidian, and Double Fine.

The news of parent company AT&T planning to sell EB interactive was released last month. The company is looking down to pay its $145 billion debt. WB Interactive is potentially valued at $4 billion.

In 2018, AT&T purchased Time Warner for $109 billion, and this is what resulted in its current debt. Investors are demanding that the company sell “non-core assets,” such as DirecTV and WB Interactive.

IGN reports WB Montreal is working on a new Batman project. There are rumors that Rocksteady is developing a new DC game. In addition to that, Avalanche Studios is being linked to an unannounced Harry Potter RPG.

  • Falling Guillotine is so good, basically Dark Drinker 2.0

Destiny 2’s latest updates have these swords are outta control (in a good way) and ridiculous in terms of power (and I love every minute of it).

Lots of other updates are in place as we dive into the dark, but the swords stand out and Falling Guillotine is just so darn good. Temptation’s Hook is solid too, and looks funky, but we’ve got Dark Drinker 2.0 on our hands and we can’t put it down. The two new swords will both be acquired from this season’s Umbral Engrams, and Big Purple can also be attained by progressing through your season levels.

According to PCGamer, the swords are reprized versions of exotic weapons from Destiny 1. They come with unique and heavy attacks.

    Temptation’s Hook

Temptation’s hook is based on Bolt Caster. It’s useful for dealing with substantial damage both from a distance and up-close attacks as it fires a spinning disc of electricty. The Massive Breakdown team concluded that Temptation’s Hook has less damage than other swords that belong to the Adaptive Class. However, it still comes with perks like Vorpal Weapon and Relentless Strikes. It also has a Boss Spec mode.

    Falling Guillotine

Purple has never looked this good. They’re calling it the Dark Drinker 2.0. The Falling Guillotine is formed like a tuning fork that unlocks from rank 30 in this season’s pass. You can aim for it from the Umbral Engrams by focusing them before decryption at Drifter’s talking dustbin.

As you’ve guessed, Falling Guillotine is based on Dark Drinker. It really leaves a dent with its perks; Jagged Edge, Relentless Strikes, and Whirlwind Blade. The combo is one heavy spin attack, which is followed by five lights.

The highlight of this season falls on Falling Guillotine. It’s too good to be true that YouTubers themselves are questioning if this is right. Some even claimed that it might be a game bug. However, Hearthstone designers explained that the damage is correct, but the gameplay displays are wrong and caused by server/client issues.

Falling Guillotine leaves out a trail of corpses that players should fear the sight of it.

Temptation’s Hook is beautiful too, but if you’re not using Falling Guillotine to destroy the crowd, then simply give it a try.

It also looks like a giant rectangle the size of a small apartment, so, enjoy that.

It reminds me of those massive swords from Soul Caliber.

  • New date set for Playstation 5 event that was previously postponed

Sony Interactive Entertainment plans to launch the event for PlayStation 5. This is their second attempt to launch after it was postponed.

VentureBeat reported that the company is currently planning to give a glimpse of PlayStation 5’s games this Thursday, at 1 p.m. Pacific time. They aim to offer fans and potential customers a closer look at the upcoming next-gen console software that can only be deemed as epic.

Sony decided to continue to move ahead of their plan a week after its postponement. The event was supposed to be held last Thursday, June 4. However, the launch had to be canceled. This is in response to the protests that were happening in different parts of the United States. Sony Interactive Entertainment said that they would make matching donations for organizations that support the organizations against police brutality.

PlayStation 5 will launch this Thursday, and the company is ensuring that it will happen.

A previous report by VentureBeat covered Sony’s plan. The event will focus on games primarily from first-part and third-party studios. It is to be expected that a reveal will take place. The company plans to highlight its latest software, with it said to run natively on PlayStation 5.

Sony made sure that the specific games in the spotlight have not reached the ears of nerd enthusiasts and other gaming websites.

Sony’s event will clash with Microsoft’s spontaneous Xbox event. While Microsoft moved their event to August, the rivalry between PlayStation 5 and Xbox will still take place. Sony launching ahead of Microsoft changes the game once again.
